Genesis is finally expanding its lineup beyond just sedans with the recent debut of the GV80 SUV, but while we already know that Genesis is planning to add at least two more SUVs to its lineup, the brand may have something even more exciting planned. Genesis has confirmed that it’s working on a G70 wagon (shooting brake).

2019 Genesis G70

“Yes, we have a study for that,” Genesis CEO William Lee confirmed the news to Car and Driver. The “study” for the wagon version of the G70 is based on the refreshed version of the G70 that’s expected to debut in 2021. The refreshed G70 will be the last model in the Genesis lineup to get the brand’s new styling language with its quad headlights and taillights and “crest grille.”

The G70 shooting brake would target other wagons, like the Audi A4 Avant and BMW 3 Series Touring in Europe, but it’s unclear if it would be offered in North America. Of course we would love to see another luxury wagon offered in the US as an alternative to the crowded SUV segment, but we’ll have to wait and see.
