Ford unveiled the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover last month, but it looks like Ford isn’t stopping there as it looks to expand the Mustang family. A new report claims that Ford is working on a smaller “baby” Mustang Mach-E that will be based on Volkswagen’s MEB platform.

According to Auto Express, the smaller Mustang Mach-E will come to life thanks to some help from VW. Sources claim that the smaller electric crossover will share its platform with the VW ID.3. If the reports are accurate we can expect the Baby Mustang Mach-E to have a different profile than the larger version, largely due to the limitations of VW’s platform.

“It’s key that we have enough flexibility, and it’s important to have enough differentiation and the kind of performance you expect from a Ford” stated Ted Cannis, global director of electrification at Ford. “A lot of that was done in the early part of the negotiations with VW. The parameters that we’ve seen, we can make a great Ford.”
