Ford has unveiled the next-generation Fusion Hybrid autonomous development vehicle, which is going to debut next month at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and the Detroit Auto Show.

Compared to the original Fusion autonomous development vehicle that started testing three years ago, the new model has much faster processing times thanks to new computer hardware. Ford also says that the new electrical controls are closer to production-ready. New LiDAR sensors have a sleeker design and more targeted field of vision, which enables the car to now use just two sensors rather than four, while still getting just as much data.
Ford hopes to have the technology available for public consumption by 2021.
