Ford has already confirmed plans for a new electric car that’s inspired by the iconic Mustang and now it’s being reported that we’ll get to see the new EV debut as a concept later this year.

According to Autocar, Ford will reveal the Mustang-inspired crossover concept this year before the production version goes on sale in 2020 as a 2021 model. We still don’t know what Ford plans to call its electric crossover, but it will be aimed squarely at the Tesla Model Y. Ford did recently trademark the “Mach-E” name, so there’s a chance that it will use that name.

The new electric crossover will be based on a new bespoke platform that will be able to feature rear- or all-wheel drive. Ford has confirmed that the crossover will have a 370-mile driving range on the WLTP cycle, which puts it ahead of the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace. A cheaper version with less driving range is also expected.
