We’ve been waiting to hear what Ford is going to call its new “Baby Bronco” and now we it looks like we have the answer – Maverick. Almost two years ago it was discovered that Ford had trademarked two names, Maverick and Timberline, which were thought to be used by the new small crossover and now we have more proof that the Maverick name is coming back.

The latest news comes to us from Bronco6G, where a forum member discovered the Maverick name when looking for part numbers and discovered several parts that were listed for the Maverick. We do know that the Maverick will share its platform with the Escape, but it will be a more rugged crossover compared to the more car-like Escape.

The parts listing lists the Maverick as a 2020 model, but it’s likely going to be a 2021 model. Production is rumored to begin this summer. Ford has yet to confirm anything, so we’ll have to wait and see if the Ford Maverick is actually the much anticipated Baby Bronco.
