Ford has unveiled a new lighter version of the GT – the GT Competition Series. The goal of the GT Competition Series was to ultimately drop its weight from the standard version – where it matters, higher in the vehicle, shifting the center of gravity closer to the track.

The limited-edition Ford GT Competition Seres features lightweight carbon fiber racing stripes, A-Pillars, side mirrors and a unique engine hatch with integrated venting. The lightweight, race-inspired Perspex acrylic engine hatch cover with manual latch and carbon fiber prop rod reduces weight near the roof and shifts the balance of weight lower in the car.

Weight reducing carbon fiber wheels, and titanium lug nuts and exhaust – are standard on the Competition Series.

Inside, the GT Competition Series maintains the lightweight interior, but exposed carbon fiber accentuates the console, registers and door sills. Anodized red paddle shifters and instrument panel badge bring accent color to the cabin, while a unique center console plate and steering wheel fascia account for the deleted infotainment controls and screen.

The GT Competition Series can be ordered in Shadow Black, Frozen White, Ingot Silver, Liquid Blue, Liquid Grey and Triple Yellow.
