The all-new 2013 Escape is expected to hit dealerships in late May, but Ford claims that the automaker has already received 8,000 orders for the new crossover. The 2013 Escape starts at $23,295, which is $200 lower than the outgoing model.
Although the Ford Escape’s entry model, the Escape S is cheaper than before, Ford expects most of the sales to come from the upper trim levels. Ford predicts that only 10% of the Escape’s sales will be for the base S trim level. The top Escape is the Titanium model, which starts at $31,195, but a fully loaded Titanium will have a sticker around $37,000.
The 2013 Escape is a big departure from the current Escape with its new, more styling. When the Escape first debuted ten years ago, buyers wanted a more rugged looking SUV, but now Ford officials claim that buyers want the capability of the current Escape, but with more style.
Ford’s biggest competition will be the Honda CR-V, which currently holds the top spot in the segment.
