Fisker is officially back with the debut of its Emotion electric car at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show. The Fisker Emotion is a midsize electric sedan that is ready to take on the Tesla Model S with its 400 mile driving range.
The Fisker EMotion is Fisker’s second attempt at an electric car after the original Fisker Karma. The big difference now is that the EMotion doesn’t need a range extender to keep it moving down the road, instead the EMotion is a fully-electric car. Fisker has not announced the specs besides the 400 mile range and that the EMotion can reach a top speed of 161 mph.
Fisker is also working on new solid-state batteries that would give the EMotion a range of 500 miles and reduce charging times to as low as one minute.
The EMotion has room for either four or five passengers that enter the vehicle via its unique Butterfly doors, which can be opened by the driver’s smartphone. The EMotion also features lidar sensors to give it level 4 autonomous driving capability.
Inside an iPad like screen is sits in the middle of the center console. There’s also a 27-inch screen for rear seat passengers and an electrochromic glass roof can easily switch from transparent to fully tinted with the simple push of a button. For owners that don’t want the leather seats, Fisker will also offer a vegan option.
“With the EMotion, we’re introducing edgy, dramatic and emotionally-charged design/proportions complemented with technological innovation that moves us into the future,” stated Henrik Fisker.
The Fisker EMotion is priced at $129,000 and is slated to arrive in 2019.
