Dieselgate might have almost killed the diesel engine in the United States, but the good news is that it’s not completely gone. The EPA recently certified the diesel-powered 2018 BMW 540d xDrive for sale in the U.S.

We know that that’s powered by a 3.0L six-cylinder turbodiesel, but BMW has yet to confirm the US-specs. It’s expected that it’s specs will be close to the 530d, which is offered in other markets. The 530d is powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine with 265 hp and 457 lb-ft. of torque. The 540d’s six-cylinder is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which sends all that torque to all four wheels. The EPA certified 540d xDrive at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.

The 2018 BMW 540d xDrive will arrive in showrooms next month starting at $62,995.
