Chrysler has been struggling to keep up with demand for the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and now it’s announced plans to boost production of the diesel-powered pickup.
Today the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel accounts for 10 percent of all Ram 1500 pickup sales, but that percentage is going to move up to 20 percent with the new production plans. The extra production will help Chrysler win over would be Ford and GM buyers, since it says that nearly 60 percent of all Ram 1500 EcoDiesel sales are conquest over competitors.

The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is powered by a 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine that generates 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s also rated at 28 mpg, which is currently the highest highway rating of all pickups.
