Chevy hasn’t revealed the specs for the new 3.0L diesel engine that will be optional on the 2019 Silverado, but a new report might have revealed the juicy details. According to an anonymous tip that GM Authority received, the 2019 Silverado Diesel will have 282 horsepower and 450 lb-ft. of torque.

If those specs are correct, the 2019 Chevy Silverado Diesel will have more horsepower and torque than the Ford F-150 Diesel and the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. While the Silverado Diesel may have a bit more power than its rivals, it may also be the thirstiest, since TFL Truck receive a Canadian brochure about the Silverado’s cousin, the GMC Sierra Diesel, which states that it gets up to 28 mpg on the highway. If the 3.0L diesel is rated at 28 mpg by the EPA, it will come in under the 30 mpg rated F-150 Diesel.

Both trucks will also be able to tow up to 7,800 pounds.

For now we’ll have to wait until GM releases all the official details and pricing.
