Buick has unveiled a new EV for the Chinese market, the 2021 Velite 7 electric compact SUV. It’s based on the same platform as the Chevrolet Bolt EV, General Motors’ BEV2 platform.

Buick hasn’t released the full specs for the Velite 7, but it says will have an electric range of 500 kilometers or 310 miles on the less stringent New European Driving Cycle (NEDC).

It’s unlikely that the Velite 7 will be offered in the United States, but a slightly restyled version will be likely be sold here as the Chevy Bolt EUV. The Bolt EUV is slated to arrive in mid-2021 as a 2022 model. The regular Bolt is also slated to get a refresh for the 2022 model year.

Stay tuned.
