In case you missed the news, Buick now only sells SUVs in America, which includes the Encore, Encore GX, Envision and Enclave. The Encore GX and Enclave stand out in the lineup, but the Envision has been the most forgettable. Now Buick is changing that with the debut of the 2021 Envision, which is far more stylish than its predecessor.

2021 Buick Envision

The 2021 Buick Envision is now based on a new platform that it shares with the Cadillac XT4. It’s now lower and wider than the awkward looking outgoing model. To amp up the style even more, the 2021 Avenir also gets the top level Avenir trim level that adds 20-inch wheels, a unique grille and more luxury features. The Avenir is also available in Preferred and Essence trim levels.

Under the hood there’s only one engine available, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That means that the new Avenir has less horsepower than the last generation Avenir with the optional 2.0-liter that generated 252 hp and 295 lb-ft. The new 2.0-liter does have more power than the previous base 2.5-liter engine that only had 197 hp.

The four-cylinder engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is optional. The 2021 Envision is rated at 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, and 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
