In addition to unveiling the new 8 Series concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, BMW also plans to reveal its vision of zero-emission urban mobility on two wheels: the BMW Motorrad Link concept. The electric scooter is inspired by the BMW Motorrad Vision Next 100.

The Link concept’s electric motor and flat energy packs in the underfloor gave BMW’s designers the ability to create a more distinctive design than a typical scooter. “The resulting expressive power of the vehicle is absolutely new for BMW Motorrad and breaks with all conventional viewing patterns.” explains Alexander Buckan, Head of Vehicle Design at BMW Motorrad.

The low-slung, stretched body and the flat seat combined with the diagonally rising front section create a modern yet distinctive silhouette and the clever use of colors emphasizes this even further, since the front trim in Liquid Metal Titanium contrasts with the semi-matte black body.

The Link is ideally suited for an urban environment with its fast acceleration and easy handling. Its low overall height makes getting on easy from the side or the back. Plus a reverse gear makes it is easy to maneuver into tight city spaces. The seat bench can also fit up to two passengers, so you can bring a friend along, if you need to.

BMW hasn’t revealed any details about the electric powertrain or if the Link will enter production.
