A few days ago BMW officially took the wraps off the 2019 8 Series Coupe, which is now the flagship in the BMW lineup. Eventually the BMW 8 Series lineup will be expanded beyond just a Coupe with Convertible and four door Gran Coupe versions in the works. And here’s the good news, we just got an early look at both the 8 Series Gran Coupe and Convertible.

BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and Convertible

BMW has registered the designs of both the 8 Series Gran Coupe and Convertible with the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property, which provides a grainy preview of both models. BMW previewed the 8 Series Gran Coupe with the M8 Gran Coupe concept earlier this year and from this photo we can see the production version won’t be that different.

Under the hood we can expect the non-M8 versions of the Gran Coupe and Convertible to get the same engines as the Coupe, which means a 4.4-liter biturbo V8 with 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet. In Europe the 8 Series is also available with a a 3.0-liter biturbo inline-six cylinder with 315 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

BMW hasn’t confirmed when 8 Series Gran Coupe and Convertible will arrive, but it’s expected that the Convertible will debut first. For now the 8 Series Coupe will be the sole model in the lineup when it arrives at the end of this year.
