BMW has already revealed plans to introduce a sportier version of the X1, which will be dubbed the X2. The X2 is a sportier alternative to the X1, but it’s profile is slightly less coupe-like than the larger X4 and X6 models.

Even though it’s a crossover, the X2 concept’s long wheelbase, stretched roofline, short overhangs and forward-slanting C-pillar give the body a sporty, lowslung feel. While the X4 and X6 crossovers do have a strong resemblance, the X2 is a departure from the current designs.

The production version of the X2 will ride on the UKL platform, which is also used for the X1 and the next-generation Mini Countryman. BMW hasn’t announced when the X2 will be released, but it’s expected to arrive sometime in 2017.
