Earlier this week, BMW confirmed that the production of the 6 Series Coupe stopped a few months ago – leaving the 4 Series coupe as the largest two-door BMW coupe available. Well we have much better news now, since BMW has finally confirmed plans to introduce the 8 Series Coupe in 2018. The 8 Series Coupe is also going to be previewed this month with a concept version at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

BMW has released this teaser of the 8 Series concept, which it simply calls a “design study” that “embodies uncompromising dynamics and contemporary luxury – the essence of a modern BMW coupe.”

“The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up – a slice of pure automotive fascination,” says Krüger, looking ahead to the new model. “The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”

BMW hasn’t released a lot of details about the new 8 Series, but it recently trademarked the 850, 860, M850 and M8 names.
