Land Rover is working on a smaller Land Rover Defender, which was announced at a recent investor conference.

Autocar is reporting that the new “baby” Defender will be built on JLR’s Electric Modular Architecture (EMA) platform and that it will arrive in 2027. The smaller Defender will be based on the same platform as the next-generation Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport.

The big news is that the smaller Defender will arrive as an electric vehicle and it could be called the Defender Sport. It’s expected that it will be about 181 inches long and 71 inches tall. Regarding the bigger Land Rover Defender, Autocar is reporting that the next-generation Defender will arrive in 2026 and will be based Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) platform.
