Audi Wants to Build Cars in Mexico

Audi has been finalizing plans to build a plant in North America, but although it was expected that the plant would be in the U.S., it looks like it might actually be in Mexico.

Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler recently stated in an interview with Manager Magazin that he wants Audi to build a plant in Mexico, instead of using the plant that VW has in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The plant in Mexico would build the Q5 crossover. Stadler’s plans will most likely face strong opposition from VW’s bosses that want Audi to use the extra space at the Tennessee plant.

A decision is expected to be made before 2015.
