At last year’s Beijing Motor Show Audi gave the world a preview of what a crossover version of the TT could look like with the TT Offroad concept. Audi is reportedly getting ready to expand its SUV lineup at both ends with the upcoming arrival of the Q8 flagship and now it’s being reported that a TT crossover is on the way – dubbed the TTQ.
Audi was expected to call the TT crossover the Q4, which give it a similar naming convention as BMW with its X3 and X4 models. Unfortunately Fiat’s Alfa Romeo owns the Q2 and Q4 names and isn’t willing to let them go. So that’s where the TTQ name comes in.

“We have no choice but to make a virtue out of necessity,” a senior manager told Car Magazine. “By taking the TTQ route, we avoid the confrontation with Fiat, we don’t overcrowd the Q corral, and we add a fresh twist to the TT theme.”

When the TTQ arrives in 2017 it’s footprint will be similar to the Q3 crossover, but its roofline will be more coupe-like. Car reports that it will be 60mm lower than the Q3.
