Audi is working on a new crossover that is smaller than the current Q3, dubbed the Q1, the new subcompact crossover will compete against models like the MINI Countryman and Buick Encore.
Audi is working on a new crossover that is smaller than the current Q3, dubbed the Q1, the new subcompact crossover will compete against models like the MINI Countryman and Buick Encore. In addition to confirming that the Q1 crossover is in the works, Audi has also released this teaser sketch of the baby crossover.
“The Audi Q1 is part of our broad-based SUV strategy. It is designed on the basis of the modular transverse engine concept and will round off our Q series at the bottom end,” stated Audi CEO Rupert Stadler.
From this single sketch its clear that the Q1 will borrow some of its styling cues from the Crosslane coupe concept. It’s expected that the Q1 will share its platform with the Audi A1 and that it will be produced at the same plant that also produces the A3, A4 and A5 models.
