Audi is reportedly working on a new four-door coupe version of the next-generation A3, which will go head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The new A3 coupe will be joined by the sedan and hatchback versions, although the four-door coupe is likely to arrive first, around 2019.

The A3 coupe is expected to borrow styling cues from the large A5 and A7 four-door coupes, in addition to the TT Sportback concept that debuted in 2014. It will feature a sleeker roofline than the A3 sedan and also a unique front fascia will help differentiate it from the rest of the A3 models.

The next-generation A3 will continue to be based on VW’s MQB platform, but it will grow a bit in size. Also expect an upgraded A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid and possibly even a fully electric version.
