As promised Mazda has unveiled the all-new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata at an event in Monterey, California. The all-new fourth generation MX-5 Miata adopts Mazda’s latest design Kodo design language with an exterior that is far more dramatic than the outgoing model.
Mazda has yet to release all the specs for the 2016 MX-5 Miata, but did reveal that it will be more than 220 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, which means that it should come in around 2,200 pounds. Mazda also says that it is the most compact MX-5 Miata yet, which should make it even more fun to drive. It’s also wider and lower than the current model.
Under the hood the new MX-5 Miata will be powered by Skyactiv engines with some rumors stating that a 1.5L and 2.0L will be available. The new MX-5 Miata goes on sale early next year.
