Alfa Romeo will look completely different in a few years, since Stellantis has announced that the brand will be fully electric by 2027. Parent company Stellantis revealed the news in a presentation on Tuesday, which also confirmed that Opel will go fully electric by 2028 and Fiat by 2030.

We don’t know yet when the first electric Alfa Romeo will arrive, but there are rumors that an electric subcompact crossover will be introduced in 2023. Fiat and Jeep will offer similar electric crossovers.

This news also means that the Alfa Romeo will soon ditch its rear-wheel drive Giorgio platform that’s used by the Giulia sedan and Stelvio crossover. The brand will switch to the new STLA platforms. Stellantis announced that it will introduce four electric platforms for its brands. They are called the TLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large, and STLA Frame. The EVs will have a driving range between 300 and 500 miles.
