A new report claims that Acura is working on an NSX Type R and that we’ll get to see it debut later this year at the Tokyo Motor Show.
According to Forbes, the Acura NSX Type R is going to debut this fall with 650 horsepower, which is 77 more horsepower than the standard NSX. It’s not known what upgrades the NSX Type R is getting to give it the extra horsepower, which means we’ll have to wait and see if the twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 or three electric motors get any upgrades. Acura may also tweak the SH-AWD system.
Other upgrades include a sportier suspension and some additions to the exterior to help it slip through the wind easier, like a new front splitter.
What will the Acura NSX Type R cost? According to the report, the hotter NSX will have a price tag around $200k. The 2019 Tokyo Motor Show kicks off in October, so we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to get the official word.
