The formally Honda racing division named Honda Racing Development (HPD) changed its name to Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) late last year. The HRC team has already built a race-car version of the Acura Integra Type S an now its showing off the potential upgrades it could make to the Integra Type S street car.

Acura Integra Type S HRC Prototype

The Integra Type S HRC prototype gets some of the things from the TCX race car, like larger hood vents, a larger front splitter and cooling ducts and an adjustable carbon-fiber wing. The weight has been reduced by 200 pounds due to a carbon-fiber hood and rear door panels and deleting the air conditioning. The interior also helped shave off some pounds with the addition of fixed back Recaro seats and the deletion of the rear seat, which has a carbon-fiber shelf in that spot instead.

To amp up the performance the Integra Type S HRC prototype gets a larger intercooler, twin oil coolers and a tuned, lightweight cat-back exhaust system that were developed for the Integra Type S HRC TCX race car. The suspension has been updated with a track-ready suspension that lowers the Integra 15mm and also features an adjustable rear anti-roll bar and adjustable front and rear camber plates.

The prototype rides on forged lightweight 19 x 9.5-inch wheels with increased negative offset widen the front and rear track by 30mm. The wheels are wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires.

We’ll have to wait and see if some of these upgrades do become available or if an Integra Type S HRC will head to production.
