We have a bit of sad news for manual transmission fans, since Honda has reportedly paused production of its models that feature a 1.5-liter turbo that’s mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This impacts the manual-only Honda Civic Si and the manual version of the Acura Integra.
Honda sent out an email to its Ontario plant employees that has now been posted on social media, which says that “due to evolving business conditions surrounding the Environment. Protection Agency (EPA) regulations required to certify 2027 MY and beyond, Honda has made the decision to pause the production of the trims that utilize the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine paired to the 6-speed manual (6MT) at the conclusion of the 2026 model year.”
The email continues “as EPA regulations become clear, Honda will assess how best to proceed with the impacted trims.”
So this means that there will not be a Civic Si for the 2027 model year, since that was the only powertrain offered in that model. The email makes it unclear if Honda will bring it back as well. For now, the good news is that there are still the Honda Civic Type R and Acura Integra Type S models, which both come standard with a manual transmission, so hopefully those models are going to be impacted.
