With the unveiling of its 2027 Tundra, Toyota is putting forward a model that has been given a styling refresh and a host of new technology. Of particular note for those in the market for a factory overlanding truck is the inclusion of a Trailhunter package.
The Trailhunter is built on the SR5 and sits under the TRD Pro in the hierarchy. It comes equipped with an Old Man Emu suspension, Michelin LTX 265/70R18 tires, front recovery hooks and underbody protection. A locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control are part of the deal, while bronze wheels and some exclusive badging put the finishing touches on it.
Across the board, the 2027 Tundra has a reworked front fascia featuring a more prominent hexagonal grille, a new bumper and rectangular fog lights. Visibility is further enhanced by an updated LED light bar and the option of RIGID fog lamps.
Step inside and one will find Toyota’s 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system on every model, complete with AT&T 5G and an upgraded “Hey Toyota” voice assistant. There is also a standard Drive Recorder and Digital Key support for Apple, Google and Samsung Wallets.
Under the hood the twin-turbo i-FORCE V6 and i-FORCE MAX hybrid remain on offer. The full roster runs from the SR to the Capstone, including the SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition and TRD Pro, with the Trailhunter now adding to the off-road options. And as before, all 2027 models are fitted with Toyota Safety Sense 4.0.
