The 2026 Lexus IS 350 is a bit like revisiting an old friend that’s had a few tweaks. It’s one of the few sedans Lexus still makes (they’ve mostly moved onto SUVs), and that in itself is a draw. However, after driving it, you realize that while it’s still good, it isn’t quite as impressive as the other cars in the class.

Lexus hasn’t gone for all-out speed or a complete overhaul; the IS 350 concentrates on being comfortable, refined and sporty enough to be enjoyable.
The interior is the biggest change for 2026. Lexus has finally given the IS an updated cabin that’s more in line with what people expect now. The frustrating touchpad is gone, and in its place is a much simpler to use touchscreen for the infotainment system, instantly making the car more user-friendly. This is accompanied by a new dual-screen arrangement: a 12.3-inch digital display for the driver’s gauges, and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, giving the inside a cleaner and more modern look. The center console has been redesigned, the air vents are updated and the steering wheel is new, all of which freshen the feel.

Under the hood, it’s straightforward. The IS 350 has a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 311 horsepower, and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission in rear-wheel drive versions; all-wheel drive models have a six-speed transmission. Those figures sound alright, but in reality, the IS 350 isn’t particularly quick. It takes around 5.9 seconds to reach 60 mph – slower than some of its main competitors – and you can feel that difference if you really accelerate.
But pure speed isn’t the aim of this car.
The IS 350 excels at a smooth and settled ride. The suspension is a strong point, absorbing bumps in the road without making the car feel unstable. It’s equally happy on a long road trip or your everyday commute.
The F Sport trim makes the handling a little tighter. The steering is accurate with reasonable feedback and the suspension gives more control on a twisty back road. It’s enough to make the IS fun when you want it to be, but don’t expect it to be as nimble as a BMW 3 Series or as sporty as a Genesis G70.

It still looks good, the 2026 IS 350. The revised styling gives it a slightly bolder, more aggressive appearance with sharper lines and a more prominent front end that is recognizably Lexus. At the rear the changes are smaller with a an available rear spoiler on F Sport models and the new “LEXUS” lettering.
However, the drawbacks become more apparent as you spend more time with the car.
Space in the back seats is limited, particularly when compared to newer cars, and the front seats, while okay for shorter journeys, don’t provide the support you’d want on a long drive – and you will notice that after a few hours.

And looking at the wider situation: this version of the IS was introduced for 2024 and this is its third update. Given Lexus is building fewer sedans (the LS and GS have been removed from the range), you have to ask how much longer the IS will be around. It’s also lacking something from the experience: the 5.0-liter V8 engine of the IS 500, and its absence is felt, particularly by people wanting a car with a little more personality and excitement.
The 2026 Lexus IS 350 isn’t aiming to be the fastest or most sporting of the sports sedans. It’s found its place as a comfortable, stylish and well-balanced car for everyday use, with enough performance to be interesting.
Starting at $46,895, it’s also fairly affordable for a luxury car, which adds to its appeal.
If you’re looking for really sharp handling and the latest in performance, the BMW 3 Series or Genesis G70 are better. But if you value comfort, reliability and a subtle style, the IS 350 is definitely a strong contender.
