Honda wowed us when it unveiled the Prelude concept late last year, which marks the return of the iconic sports car. We’ve been waiting to hear news about a production version and now Honda has confirmed that the Honda Prelude will return at the end of next year, likely as a 2026 model.

This time the new Prelude will be powered by Honda’s hybrid powertrain, which also powers its other hybrid models, like the Accord, Civic and CR-V. Honda hasn’t released any specs, but the Prelude will get a new “S+ Shift” drive mode, which Honda says will “deliver maximum levels of driver engagement.”

“The return of the Honda Prelude as a hybrid-electric sports model demonstrates our continued commitment to offer a variety of exhilarating products to meet the needs of our customers,” said Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda Auto Sales. “The first three products in the Honda lineup in the 1970s were Civic, Accord and Prelude, and soon all three will be back together again in our passenger car lineup as hybrids.”
