Volkswagen is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Jetta GLI, which debuted in 1984 with a limited 40th Anniversary Edition. The GLI was originally marketed as a “GTI with a trunk” when it was first introduced.

2024 VW Jetta 40th Anniversary Edition

The Jetta GLI 40th Anniversary Edition is available in three colors: Pure Gray, Pure White or Rising Blue. The exterior has blacked out trim and unique 18-inch black wheels. Inside the fabric seats have a unique embossed design, which will vary with each model produced. It also features engraved cupholders with the GLI logo in one and 1984 in the other. The seat tags and front door sills have “GLI 40” on them and the steering wheel gets a “40” clip at the six o-clock position.

Under the hood, the 40th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

VW only plans to build 1,984 units and the pricing starts at $28,085.
