The hybrid system, while powerful, is accompanied by a louder-than-expected engine and a slightly rough transition between electric and gas power. On the road though the Land Cruiser feels more refined than the Bronco or Wrangler.
Off-road performance is where the Land Cruiser truly shines. With a locking center differential, crawl-control system, hill-descent control, and standard 4-wheel drive, it can handle virtually any terrain with confidence. On-road manners have improved as well, with better suspension and steering eliminating the nosedive issues of earlier models, providing a smoother and more composed ride.
Inside, the cabin strikes a deliberate balance between simplicity and durability. The minimalistic interior is designed to have everything you need and what your don’t need. Again the 1958 model does without luxuries like ventilated seats, leather seats and even a smaller infotainment system. The cloth seats evoke a sense of adventure, aligning with the vehicle’s rugged persona. However, the interior materials in this base trim can feel underwhelming, falling short of expectations for a vehicle at this price point. Additionally, the absence of a third-row seat and a power rear hatch may disappoint buyers seeking family-oriented conveniences.
If you want a more luxurious interior you’ll want to step up the standard Land Cruiser trim with its leather seats, higher quality materials and better tech features.
