Toyota is giving three row SUV buyers another option, with the debut of the 2024 Grand Highlander. As it’s name suggests, the Grand Highlander is a bigger version of the three-row Highlander with more space for the family, especially adults in the third row.
“There is definitely a need in the market for a midsize-SUV that prioritizes interior comfort in all three rows and Grand Highlander is the ultimate option,” said Lisa Materazzo, group vice president of Toyota Marketing.
The Grand Highlander is based on a stretched version of the TNGA-K and there are three powertrain options to choose from. The standard engine is the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder. There are also two hybrid options, either the 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain or the Hybrid Max powertrain with 362 hp and 400-pound feet of torque. The Hybrid Max comes standard with all-wheel drive, can tow up to 5,000 pounds and has a 0-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds.
Inside buyers can choose either seven- or eight-passenger versions. A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen is standard. It’s available in three trim levels: XLE, Limited, and Platinum.
The pricing and on sale date of the 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander will be announced this summer. Lexus is also expected to get its own version of the larger three-row SUV, which will likely be called the TX.
