Subaru has unveiled the 2024 Subaru Impreza at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The big news is that when the 2024 Impreza arrives, it will only be available as a five-door hatchback. The sedan has been discontinued.

On the outside the 2024 Impreza is not a dramatic departure from the current version, but it does look a bit sportier with its flared fenders.

There are two powertrain options for the 2024 Impreza, the Base and Sport trim levels are powered by a 2.0-liter flat-4 engine with 152 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive are standard. Subaru says that it’s updated the AWD system to make it respond faster, while the electronic power steering rack from the WRX has been added.

The more powerful option is with the RS trim, which is coming back for 2024. The Impreza RS is powered by a 2.5-liter flat-4 engine with 182 hp and 178 lb-ft. The RS also gets the same stiffer suspension and shift paddles as the Sport. The RS stands out with its gloss-black exterior trim, special badges and LED headlights. Inside there’s faux carbon fiber trim, an optional 10-way power driver’s seat and black and red sport seats.

Inside both the Sport and RS get an 11.6-inch infotainment display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On the safety front, the Impreza comes standard with the EyeSight suite of driver assistance features, like automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection and adaptive cruise control. The RS adds a blind-spot monitor, lane-keep assist, rear cross traffic alert and automatic emergency steering that can help you avoid a collision at speeds up to 50 mph.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza will arrive in the spring.
