A new Subaru Crosstrek is coming for the 2024 model year, but today Subaru unveiled the Japanese spec version of the updated Crosstrek. What we see here is updated styling and some tech upgrades.
In the past Subaru has used either the “Crosstrek” or “Subaru XV” names for the small crossover, but going forward it will be called Crosstrek globally. On the outside the shape hasn’t changed much, but the new Crosstrek has sleeker and sharper styling than the current model.
Inside the big upgrade is the addition of an 11.6-inch vertically oriented touchscreen, which has removed many of the physical buttons for the climate and audio controls. There are also new seats that are supposed to be more supportive.
In Japan, the new Crosstrek is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s mated to an “e-BOXER” electric motor. We will have to wait and see if the same 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines in the current model will continue to be offered in the US.
