Last month Hyundai unveiled the 2024 Kona and it revealed that it will be offered in four versions. What was missing from that announcement were the powertrain specs for the 2024 Kona, but now we have them – or at least the specs for the version sold in Korea.

2024 Hyundai Kona

The powertrains largely carry over for the new Kona. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, that’s mated to a CVT and front-wheel drive. The sportier option is the turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 195 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It’s expected that the turbo will be mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

There’s also the new Kona hybrid, which is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder, that’s mated to an electric motor and a six-speed automatic. The hybrid powertrain, which is the same as the Elantra hybrid, has 139 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

We’re still waiting for details about the Kona Electric. We’ll get all that info in March when the global version is launched.
