“Twenty years is a significant milestone for the R performance brand of models, and we’re excited to share in a global celebration of two decades of R32 and Golf R heritage,” said Hein Schafer, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy.

The Golf R 20th Anniversary Edition deletes the standard sunroof to save some weight, 19-inch gloss black Estoril wheels with 235/35 summer performance tires, and unique mirror caps. The 20th Anniversary Edition will be available in Lapiz Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl, or Pure White. It’s finished off with unique 20th Anniversary badging and puddle lights project “20 R” onto the pavement below.

VW only plans to build around 1,800 units with the pricing starting at $44,940 for the manual transmission version and $45,740 for the version with the 7-speed DSG.
