Acura has announced that the 2022 Acura MDX has earned the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) – Top Safety Pick+.
To receive the Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in all six IIHS crash tests. This includes the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests.
The vehicle must also be available with a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations, and good or acceptable headlights must be standard on all models.
The 2022 Acura MDX earned a Good rating in all the crash tests, its front crash prevention system earned a Superior rating, and its headlights received a Good rating. The new MDX joins the RDX and TLX, which have also received the Top Safety Pick+ rating.
