Volkswagen has announced that the 2021 ID.4 electric crossover has received the highest safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) – Top Safety Pick+.
To qualify for the 2021 Top Safety Pick+ award a vehicle must have good ratings in each of the Institute’s six crashworthiness tests. It’s headlights also have to be rated as good or acceptable, while its available front crash prevention has to receive advanced or superior ratings in both vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.
The 2021 VW ID.4 EV received a good rating in all six crash tests. Its standard LED headlights earned an acceptable rating, while the available LED projector headlights received a good rating. Lastly the ID.4’s standard received a superior rating for vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention and an advanced rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention.
