Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe, which is going to have its public debut next month at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. This also marks the first time we’re seeing the new GLE Coupe, which will also be offered in an even hotter GLE 63 version, in addition to the lesser powered versions.
Compared to the GLE, the GLE Coupe is the more stylish option if you’re looking for a midsize luxury SUV. At the front the GLE 53 Coupe lets you know how special it is with its Panamericana grille and beneath it there’s an aggressive front bumper. It also gets AMG side skirts, a body color rear spoiler and large 21-inch wheels. If you want even bigger wheels, 22-inch wheels are optional.
Under the hood the GLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft. of torque that’s mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that adds 21 hp and 184 lb-ft. of torque when needed. The GLE 53 Coupe can reach 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and it has an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
There are seven drive modes: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Trail, and Sand. The optional air suspension also has three modes for the road: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. When you’re headed off-road there are also two modes: Trail, and Sand.
The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 will arrive by the middle of 2020.
