If you’re a rugged truck fan, Ford has unveiled the 2021 F-150 Tremor. The F-150 Tremor is for buyers that want even more off-road capability than the FX4 package provides, but that aren’t interested in the more extreme Raptor.
The F-150 Tremor gets an upgraded suspension with retuned springs at all four corners that provide added clearance and help keep the tires more firmly in contact with terrain. The front hub knuckles and upper control arms have been revised and there are unique monotube shocks at the front and twin tube shocks at the rear.
Ford has also upgraded the tires, with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires mounted on unique matte-finish 18-inch wheels. A Raptor-style bash plate has also been added to protect the front end.
Other upgrades include a a locking rear differential and front differential, with an optional upgrade to a Torsen limited-slip front. There’s also a torque-on-demand transfer case that’s similar to the unit in F-150 Raptor.
Under the hood it’s powered by the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission with standard four-wheel drive.
To help the F-150 Tremor stand out, it’s hood and front end have been redesigned to give it a more muscular look. The grille features a blacked-out Ford oval that’s highlighted by the signature Tremor color of Active Orange. Running boards have been added and a cutout rear bumper features a high-flow dual exhaust.
There are some available off-road tech systems, like Trail Turn Assist that reduces steering radius in tight off-road terrain situations by applying brakes to the inside rear wheel. The Trail One-Pedal Drive system makes rock crawling easier by letting the driver just use the throttle to accelerate and brake at slow speeds. A Rock Crawl mode has also been added to the available drive modes and Trail Control functions like cruise control for off-road use.
The 2021 Ford F-150 Tremor will arrive next summer.
