A new report claims that the 2020 Ford Mustang EcoBoost might be getting more power. If the report is accurate, Ford will offer two versions of the 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in the 2020 Mustang.
According to Hagerty, a recent NHTSA VIN filing document reveals that the there are two engine codes for the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine in the 2020 Ford Mustang. Currently the 2.3L EcoBoost engine generates 310 horsepower in the Mustang, but the same engine was able to squeeze out 350 horsepower in the Focus RS.
If Ford is in fact working on a more powerful 2.3L EcoBoost engine for the Mustang, the second version could be used to close the gap between the current four-cylinder engine and the 5.0L V8 in the Mustang GT. The extra power would also help the Mustang EcoBoost rival the 335-hp Chevy Camaro.
Of course Ford isn’t saying anything yet, but a spokesperson did state, that the company “is always elevating Mustang and will share more exciting news this spring.” So with that hint we should hear about all the updates to the 2020 Mustang in a few months.
