Volkswagen will officially replace the VW CC in February when the Arteon has its US debut at the 2018 Chicago Auto Show. The VW Arteon is already on sale in Europe, but it won’t arrive in the US until around mid-2018.
The 2019 VW Arteon is based on VW’s MQB platform and under the hood we can expect VW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a healthy 276 horsepower. The four-cylinder will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive will be on the options list.
With its hatchback layout and sleek coupe-like styling, the VW Arteon will rival models, like the 2018 Buick Regal Sportback and even the more expensive Audi A5. VW hasn’t announced the pricing for the 2019 Arteon, but Consumer Reports expects it to be around the same price as the CC, with a price tag near $34,500.
