The 2019 Subaru Ascent can not only carry the whole family with its three rows of seats, but you’ll also breathe a bit easier, since the Ascent has received the highest rating from the IIHS: Top Safety Pick+.

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is the seventh Subaru vehicle to earn the top rating. To receive the Top Safety Pick+ rating a vehicle has to receive good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests, as well as an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test. The vehicle must have a front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating and good-rated headlights.

2019 Subaru Ascent Review

The 2019 Ascent received good crashworthiness ratings in all the tests and comes its standard front crash prevention is rated as superior. The LED headlights that come on the Limited and Touring trims earn a good rating, but the Ascent’s base halogen headlights are rated poor. The IIHS says that the low beams on the base model provide inadequate visibility and also create excessive glare for drivers of oncoming vehicles.
