The EPA has released the fuel economy specs for the 2019 Chevy Silverado with the new 2.7L four-cylinder engine. The four-cylinder powered Silverado is rated at 20 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway or a combined 21 mpg rating.
Those specs aren’t a big improvement over the 2019 Silverado with the 5.3L V8 engine, which is rated at 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway with a 19 mpg combined rating. The Silverado 4×4 with the four-cylinder engine is rated at 19 mpg city/22 mpg highway.
The 2.7L’s combined rating puts it in the same ballpark as the entry level V6 engines in the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, but they are both more efficient on the highway with a 25 mpg rating.
The 2.7L four-cylinder engine generates 310 hp and 348 lb-ft. of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can tow up to 7,200 pounds and has a 2,280-pound maximum payload rating.
The 2019 Silverado LT and RST come standard with the 2.7L four-cylinder. Pricing for the 2019 Silverado LT with a double cab and standard bed starts at $38,395, while the Silverado RST starts at $40,295.
