Cadillac has already confirmed plans to eventually kill off the Cadillac ATS, CTS and XTS sedans as it gears up to introduce a new CT5 sedan and another entry level sedan. Well it looks like those changes are coming for the 2019 model year, since new documents show that only the Cadillac ATS Coupe will be offered for the 2019 model year.
The Truth About Cars has uncovered GM VIN code documents that it submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for the 2019 model year, which show changes for both the ATS and CT6. The 2019 Cadillac ATS is only listed as a coupe, while the CT6 loses its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder for 2019. Both the CTS and XTS will continue to be offered for the 2019 model year.
There’s a chance that the 2019 ATS sedan could still be offered for the 2019 model year, but it’s not a surprise to see that it might disappear, ATS sales were down 37.5 percent in the first 11 months of this year.
While Cadillac’s sedan lineup is being reshuffled, Cadillac is also focusing its energy on the new Cadillac XT4 crossover, which will debut sometime in 2018. Cadillac is also working on a three-row XT6 crossover, which is expected to debut in 2019.
