Want something a bit more green than the V12 and V8 powered versions of the Bentayga? Well Bentley has answered your call with the 2019 Bentley Bentayga Hybrid. The plug-in hybrid Bentayga looks almost identical to the other Bentayga models, but its hybrid powertrain gives it the ability to release zero emissions for up to 31 miles.
The Bentayga Hybrid’s plug-in hybrid powertrain features a new V6 gas engine that’s mated to an electric motor. The E Motor acts as both an electric motor and a generator and there are three E Modes β EV Drive, Hybrid Mode and Hold Mode. The 2019 Bentayga Hybrid has an electric range of over 31 miles in the NEDC cycle and it will take up to 7.5 hours to charge it using a domestic household socket. That time can be reduced to just 2.5 hours using a quick charger.
Speaking of the charger, Bentley has teamed up with Philippe Starck, to create a unique recharging unit for the Bentayga Hybrid β the Power Dock.
βThe Bentayga Hybrid is our first step on the road to electrification, combining traditional Bentley values with the very latest technologies,” stated Adrian Hallmark, new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bentley Motors. “It gives customers the best of both worlds β engaging, effortless performance on the open road and silent, emission-free driving in the city, which will become increasingly important with the ever-changing regulations around the world.
Bentley will start taking orders for the Bentayga Hybrid in the second half of 2018.
