Audi will debut the all-new 2019 Audi A8 this month at the LA Auto Show, but we’ll have to wait until late 2018 for the it to start arriving in showrooms. The all-new A8 debuted a few months ago, but this month will be the first time it’s being shown off in the U.S.
On the outside the 2019 Audi A8 borrows styling cues from the Prologue concept that debuted in 2014. Audi says that the design of the new A8 signals the start of a new era for Audi, with an emphasis on progressive elegance. Going forward we can expect the rest of the Audi lineup to borrow cues from the A8 flagship.
Based on the ASF multi-material frame technology, the body of the 2019 A8 consists of 58 percent aluminum parts paired with hot form-steel and ultra-high strength carbon fiber reinforced polymer components to give it a stronger body in white over the outgoing model.
The interior of the 2019 A8 has been simplified and refined with a long list of new technologies. Rear-seat passengers get a host of relaxation and comfort features, like fully customizable Matrix LED reading lights and reclining heated massage seats.
Under the hood the 2019 Audi A8 will be powered by a new 3.0-liter V6 turbo engine that’s paired with a standard new 48-volt electric mild-hybrid drivetrain. The A8 also features an eight speed tiptronic transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive with self-locking center differential.
