Following the preview a few months ago, Acura has unveiled the third-generation 2019 Acura RDX. The RDX is one of Acura’s best selling models and for the complete revamp, Acura says that the 2019 RDX received the most extensive redo in more than a decade.

The 2019 RDX also signals a new era for the Acura brand, which has struggled to gain traction against its luxury rivals. On the outside the 2019 RDX debuts with Acura’s new design language, which is the first vehicle to fully integrate the diamond pentagon grille. Compared to the last generation, the 2019 RDX is now 1.2-inches wider and its wheelbase is 2.5-inches longer.

If you choose the RDX A-Spec you’ll get Shark Grey 20-inch alloy wheels, a unique lower front fascia, gloss-black accents on the grille and headlights, LED fog lights and large dual exhaust finishers. Inside, the RDX A-Spec features exclusive sports seats wrapped in either black or red leather with black Ultrasuede inserts and contrasting stitching. There’s more aluminum trim and the RDX A-Spec’s stitched leather sport steering wheel features gloss black trim, metal-plated paddle shifters and A-Spec badging.

Under that new exterior, the RDX is based on a new exclusive Acura platform, which makes the new RDX lighter than before. The old V6 has been thrown out and now the 2019 RDX returns to a turbocharged four-cylinder with Honda’s new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that’s mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0L generates 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft. of torque. The 2019 RDX also gets Acura’s Super-Handling All Wheel Drive system again.

Inside there’s a new ELS Studio audio system, a touchpad interface for the 10.2-inch display and a wide panoramic sunroof. There’s also a new head up display, 4G LTE Wi-Fi and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The 2019 Acura RDX will arrive by the middle of 2018.
