Land Rover is adding another SUV to the Range Rover lineup – the Velar, which is going to have its world debut next week on March 1. The Velar’s name dates back to the first Range Rover prototypes of the 1969 and will slot in the current lineup between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport.

Details are scarce right now, but it’s expected that the Range Rover Velar will be based on the same platform as the Jaguar F-Pace with an overall design that mimics the larger Range Rover Sport.
“We call the Velar the avant garde Range Rover. It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything,” stated Gerry McGovern Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer.
